2024 European Pellet Forum

Nantes, France

The second edition of the European Pellet Forum took place in 2024 in Nantes, France, organized by Propellet France in collaboration with the European Pellet Council (EPC). As a key forum for the wood pellet sector in Europe, the event provided a prime opportunity for industry stakeholders to connect, exchange insights, and discuss market developments.

Discussions at the event focused on the recent challenges faced by the pellet market, particularly the transition from 2022 to 2023, which was marked by supply shortages, high prices, and reduced demand due to milder winters. The impact on the heating appliances market was significant, with a notable decline in sales. However, recovery has been observed in countries where strong policy support and subsidies have helped stabilize the sector, emphasizing the importance of public incentives in ensuring market growth.

Other key topics included fuel quality improvements through certification schemes and the potential effects of upcoming EU policies on the pellet industry. The event served as an essential platform for industry professionals to explore strategies for enhancing sustainability, efficiency, and market resilience.

The 2024 edition attracted around 250 visitors from across the world, reinforcing the European Pellet Forum’s role as a key annual gathering for the sector. Propellet France expressed its gratitude to participants and partners for their contributions to the event’s success.

Looking ahead, the forum will continue its rotating host format, with Poland set to organize the next edition in 2025.
